You can taste the sunshine in this South African sparkling wine. It’s made in the same way as champagne, the South Africans call it Mèthode Cap Classique. It’s also made with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – two of the grapes used to make champagne.

So what does it taste and smell like?!

Get your beak in for a sniff and you’ll discover crushed strawberrries and ripe cherries, a sip later and you’ll be delighting in more red berries. The bubbles are fine and long lasting. It’s a fantastic summer sipper.

Allow us to transport you ‘virtually’ to the verdant Devon valley at the foot of the majestic Stellenbosch mountains. The home of the Louisvale winery.

Louisvale are pioneers for growing chardonnay in South Africa and their many awards highlight the fact they are pretty good at growing the grapes and making fantastic wines!

Their winemaker is Simon Smith – who studied winemaking and viticulture at Elsenburg a famous South African Wine College. He recommended planting Chardonnay which has led to the production of Louisvale Mèthode Cap Classique wines. Well done Simon!

The wine was very bubbly when poured but seemed to loose it’s fizz quite quickly. The colour of the wine was good and it had a good after taste. A quaffable wine for any occasion but not sure I would buy again.
