What makes a great tasting champagne? (Clue: it’s not the label!)

Imagine a ripe red fruit tart, with buttery pastry – these are the aromas and flavours that charm so many of our customers, so much so, they keep coming back for more. Jean-Paul Morel definitely has a loyal following.
Carte Noir can be drunk alone but is great with cheese, as well as chicken or fish dishes.

O

Jean-Paul Morel is the epitomy of a champagne grower, his first love is the vineyard and observing  the seasons ebb and flow and his vines flourishing. He sells most of his grape crop to to the large Grande Marque Houses. He keeps some grapes for himself though and makes champagne (in his own words) for the product not the money. Jean-Paul is a great character, an avid follower of English Football and he often pops over the Channel to indulge in some Rugby Union!

I had the pleasure of finding this champagne years ago thanks to Helen Stones. We have been avid fans of it ever since. Having tried the usual big brands that all tasted much the same no matter the price or year we were looking for something a little bit special. Something you can taste and savour while enjoying the refreshing bubbles. Thankfully Jean-Paul Morel provides that in abundance. We now drink nothing else. Thanks Helen and thanks Jean- Paul.

Dry crisp taste with a hint of citrus flavours. Tried wih cheese & crackers which complimented the flavour. Ideal to drink on its own or with something with cheese or fruit ie ploughmans.
