Get Your Beak in to … a flute of Italian pink sparkling

After popping the cork, the first thing we do is ‘get our beak in’ ie, we take a good long sniff to see what amazing aromas our noses can detect. Then, of course, we sip away to see what else we can enjoy, on the flavour front.

This July, we have ‘beaked’ and ‘sipped’- on your behalf, two different bottles.  Here, we share our review of a sparkling pink wine from the prosecco region of Italy – La Farra rosé.

Even if you don’t enjoy tennis, check out the following food and tennis fact: according to www.wimbledon.com this year they got through 28,000 kg of English strawberries and 10,000 litres of dairy cream!  The reason for bringing you these jaw dropping food facts is because the beak of this wonderful fizz bursts with layers of strawberry and cream.

Another big tick for this rosé is its shade.  We know that this is really important to rosé drinkers and right now, it’s the light salmon pink ‘Provence’ shade that is going down a storm.

For those of you wanting to know about this particular winery … The La Farra winery and vineyards are in the heart of the superior Prosecco area between the prestigious towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. La Farra is owned by the Nardi family, the three motifs on the label signify the 3 siblings in charge today, Guido, Innocente and their sister Adamaria. La Farra achieve the best of both worlds combining the typically floral fragrances of grapes from vines near Valdobbiadene with the fuller, fruitier flavours of grapes from Conegliano.

Back to the taste … Keep thinking about the tennis (actually the strawberries to be precise) because when you taste this zippy little number, the ‘just ripe’ strawberries and rosy pink apples combine to give a wonderfully crisp, fruity, dry Italian sparkling.  Scrumptious.

One more thing … in terms of food matching, rosé is such a wonderful partner to many foods, including salads, white meats, spicy foods, fish and of course amazing on it’s own!

Cheers!
