Fizz Company Tasters report back and some Fizz wins awards

In November we sent out eight bottles to eager fizz tasters and so far we have had four replies. Here’s what they thought!

 

 

Ellner Grande Reserve tasted by Philip Woolley and given 4 stars

The four of us were lucky enough to try this and must say it was a very “drinkable” little number. The apples were the strongest flavour that we all picked out but didn’t get very much more. The bubbles were great to start off but faded rather more quickly than expected from such a bottle but it didn’t go flat. Would consider this with fish or cheese (we had it with cheese) as its not very heavy, doesn’t leave any after taste and not too dry. Personally I prefer something with a bit more “wow” factor from a champagne and a lot dryer and for the money. I would say for us, it was a little pricey for what it had to offer hence only the 4 stars. It would make a great sunny afternoon, light, crisp fizz for sure. If you are looking for something not to strong in flavour then this is perfect.

 

 

Vignarosa Prosecco Brut tasted by Angela Peer and given 3 stars

I found this Prosecco very dry. I would drink it as an aperitif with some sweet and savoury canapes.
It has an aroma of pears and apples. Due to the dryness of the Prosecco I probably wouldn’t try this again. I shared it with my husband who agreed with me.

 

 

 

Triolet Brut Champagne tasted  by Samantha Wragg and given 5 stars

Really light and easy to drink with plenty of bubbles – perfect for Christmas parties with nibbles!

 

 

 A. Bergère Brut Nature Champagne tasted by Bob Ashby and given 4 stars

Very good Brut Nature. It is so very citrus fresh and clean, would go superbly with seafood. For us, it is an ideal posh aperitif for all occasions and friends are simply delighted to learn about experience a skinny champagne.

 

 

Jean-Paul Morel Carte Noir champagne review put on the website by one of our longstanding customers Ian Clarkson he gave it 5 stars.

I had the pleasure of finding this champagne years ago thanks to Helen Stones. We have been avid fans of it ever since. Having tried the usual big brands that all tasted much the same no matter the price or year we were looking for something a little bit special. Something you can taste and savour while enjoying the refreshing bubbles. Thankfully Jean-Paul Morel provides that in abundance. We now drink nothing else. Thanks Helen and thanks Jean- Paul.

 

…and finally last month we entered 3 of the fizzes we sell here at The Fizz Company into the International Wine Challenge. We’re delighted to report they all won a medal.
